The Kremlin has not seen media reports that the Russian merchant ship Ursa Major, which sank in December 2024, allegedly transported components of nuclear reactors. This was announced on May 13 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov during his briefing.

"No, we haven't seen this information. We have nothing to comment on," he said.

Information that the Ursa Major crashed in the waters between Spain and Algeria appeared on December 24, 2024. The incident, as specified, occurred due to an explosion recorded in the engine room. As a result, two sailors went missing, and 14 more escaped.

On the same day, representatives of the maritime search and rescue agency shared with Izvestia the details about the evacuation of the Russians. The Draco lifeboat and the Clara Campoamor vessel were involved in their rescue. The Western Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has opened a criminal case into the incident.

Three days later, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, said that the Norwegian ship had refused to take on board the drowning Russian sailors. He pointed out the unforgivability of such a step. At the same time, Peskov called such an act by the Norwegian crew an egregious case.
