- In China, they pointed to the tendency of the West to confuse economics with politics
Western countries tend to mix politics into economic cooperation instead of purely economic calculation. Yang Cheng, Executive Director of the Shanghai Academy of Global Governance and Regional Studies at Shanghai University of International Studies, said this on May 13 during an open discussion at the VI Central Asian Conference.
"Now economic cooperation is no longer purely economic matters, but political elements have been added...> Discussing issues of economic cooperation between China and the United States, they (the American delegation in China. They are necessarily considered within the framework of banking security," Yang Cheng said.
At the same time, he stressed that during the development of relations between Russia and China, as well as with other Central Asian states, trusting ties have been established within the framework of the One Belt, One Road initiative. In his opinion, this makes it possible to build cooperation in various areas, including in the economic and social spheres.
On May 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that relations between Russia and China are an important factor in stabilizing international relations. In addition, he noted that the Russian Federation and China have reached significant agreements that will significantly advance cooperation in the oil and gas industry.
Alexander Sternik, Director of the Third CIS Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on May 12 that potential cooperation with China in the extraction of rare earth metals in Central Asian countries has broad prospects. According to the diplomat, cooperation with China in this area is mutually beneficial and will provide access to the necessary resources for the region.
