The State Duma approved an agreement on the mutual opening of representative offices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and Tajikistan

On May 13, the Russian State Duma adopted a draft law on the ratification of the agreement between the Russian Federation and Tajikistan on the legal status of representative offices of competent authorities on internal affairs and migration.

"To ratify the agreement between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan on the legal status of representative offices of competent authorities for internal affairs and migration in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, signed in Dushanbe on October 9, 2025," the document says, published in the electronic database of the State Duma.

The document notes that the agreement is aimed at developing cooperation in countering transnational crime, illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, as well as migration issues.

On May 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent to the State Duma (State Duma) for ratification an agreement with Tajikistan concerning the status of representative offices of bodies responsible for internal affairs and migration.

On April 28, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said that Russian-Tajik military cooperation has great potential and importance in ensuring the security of the Central Asian region. According to Belousov, the Russian Ministry of Defense is assisting in equipping and developing Tajikistan's Armed Forces and sharing its combat experience.
