The Federal Forestry Agency has won a court case for the return to federal ownership of more than 21,000 hectares of forest in the Ostashkovsky forestry district of the Tver region. This was reported on May 13 in the press service of the department.

The Forestry Department of the Central Federal District has filed a lawsuit with the Arbitration Court of the Tver Region to curb illegal ownership of forest lands. The disputed plot was classified as agricultural land, but the owner did not use it for its intended purpose.

"During the inspection, it was revealed that the area of 21.1 thousand hectares is completely covered with perennial forest plantations and is located on the lands of the forest fund. The claim was satisfied, the decision entered into force," the agency quotes Elena Borodavkina, head of legal support and use of forests at the Federal Forestry Agency, in the Maks messenger.

Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, said on April 14 that there has been a steady positive trend in the reproduction and conservation of forests in Russia over the past five years. It is noted that more than 20% of the world's forests are located in Russia, a unique resource that is being systematically developed.
