The Ministry of Health proposed sending Russians with cancer to a psychologist
Russia may introduce mandatory psychological consultations for patients with cancer. This follows from the draft of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, which was reviewed by Izvestia on May 13.
"I order you to approve the attached changes that are being made to the procedure for providing medical care to the adult population with oncological diseases," the document says.
The new procedure assumes that cancer patients, if there are medical indications, will be referred to a medical and psychological counseling office or to a department of medical and psychological assistance. This applies to help with stressful situations, impaired adaptive responses, as well as suicidal and self-harming behavior.
It is also planned to clarify the rules for sending biopsy material to reference centers and the use of telemedicine technologies. The regulation on the medical and psychological counseling office will be added to the list of recommended structural units.
The Ministry of Health announced on May 7 that a chest examination using low-dose computed tomography (NDKT) It can be included in the medical examination program for patients at risk of developing lung cancer. The method is used to detect pathological changes in lung tissues.
