On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, singer Linda (real name Svetlana Gaiman) was searched and interrogated in Moscow as part of the criminal case against Andrey Cherkasov, CEO of the Jam music publishing house, who is accused of fraud on an especially large scale. Together with the artist, her director Mikhail Kuvshinov and Daria Shamova, director of Profit LLC, were interrogated. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

Searches and detentions

On the morning of May 12, security forces raided the office of Profit, owned by Cherkasov, who has been in jail since early March. Searches also took place in the Moscow office of Top 7 Company LLC, owned by the businessman's wife.

On the same day, Linda was detained and forcibly taken for questioning. Prior to that, the actress was involved in the case as a witness and voluntarily appeared for interviews, but this time, law enforcement officers, according to sources, used forced delivery.

The essence of suspicion

The investigative actions are connected with suspicion of forgery of documents and illegal renewal of copyrights to musical works. According to investigators, Daria Shamova, director of Profit LLC, along with singer Linda, could have appropriated the rights of producer Maxim Fadeev to songs in the artist's repertoire, including such hits as "Crow", "Little Fire", "North Wind" and the album "Songs of Tibetan Lamas".

The conflict between Linda and Maxim Fadeev has been going on since the late 1990s - after the breakup, the artist repeatedly stated about the producer's attempts to ban her from performing her own hits.

The interrogation and its results

The interrogation of the singer, which took place at Petrovka 38, lasted more than eight hours — from 15:00 to 23:30. According to Izvestia, after completing all the procedural measures, Linda was released.

According to journalist Ksenia Sobchak, the singer was ordered to appear and her mobile phone was seized as evidence. Its director, Mikhail Kuvshinov, has been detained, and a preventive measure may be imposed on him in the near future.

The criminal case of Andrei Cherkasov

Andrey Cherkasov, CEO of the Jam publishing house, was arrested at the end of November 2025 in a case of especially large-scale fraud committed by an organized group.

The founders of the band "Hands Up!" Sergey Zhukov and Alexey Potekhin, who have been suing Cherkasov for decades for the rights to their hits, were recognized as victims in the case. Maxim Fadeev also called Cherkasov "the main fraudster of show business in the late 90s."

The position of the parties

Linda's lawyers declined to comment on the interrogation, ignoring questions from journalists. Maxim Fadeev himself did not comment on the situation at the time of publication. In a recent interview with Sobchak, Linda stated that Fadeev was putting pressure on her, forbidding her to perform her own songs, and noted that for 30 years the producer "had no complaints" about the rights to the compositions.

Linda's status in the criminal case is currently not specified — according to some sources, she is a witness, according to others, a suspect.
