- The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned about the scheme of scammers with the purchase of a cheap server for earnings
In Russia, scammers have come up with a new fraud scheme with the purchase of an allegedly cheap server for earnings. This was announced on May 13 by the Department for the Organization of the Fight against the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
According to the agency, offers of easy income are sent to users through a special bot. Potential victims are offered to buy a "cheap server" and then transfer access to another bot, which will allegedly connect the power to mining or computing for neural networks.
It is specified that the attackers promise income from 50 thousand to 100 thousand rubles per month, fast payments to a bank card or in cryptocurrency, as well as the absence of risks.
The Interior Ministry stressed that there is no guaranteed income in this scheme. The funds go to the organizers.
"In one of the bots, before buying non-existent capacities, they offer to replenish the balance for a "stable payment." This is a classic sign of fraud," the agency's Telegram channel says.
The day before, it was reported that fraudsters are increasingly using the Russian State Courier Service (SFS) in their legends. It was noted that scammers tell victims about "special couriers", "cash declarations", "checking funds" and other fictitious procedures. Sometimes they try to involve victims in illegal activities under the guise of an "internship."
