Rescuers from Khabarovsk are waiting in Yakutia to help the republic during the flood. Today, on May 13, a Be-200 amphibious aircraft arrives in Yakutsk, carrying 20 specialists and the necessary equipment.

Rescuers will work in Namsky district to ensure the safe passage of the spring flood and provide assistance to the local population. Now the Emergency Situations Ministry task forces are monitoring the hydrological situation on the Lena River, writes IA YakutiaMedia with reference to the press service of the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The active phase of the spring flood continues in the region. On the Lena River, the main ice passage passes through the Lena and Olekminsky districts. The lower edge of the ice passage is 20 km from the village of Macha in the Olekminsky district. There is a thick ice drift. The water level near the village is 851 cm with a critical value of 1290 cm.

The upper edge of the ice drift was recorded near the village of Hamra in the Lena region. The ice flow is of medium intensity, the water level is below the rail. The length of the main section of the ice passage is 290 km. It has advanced its entire length in a day.

Experts believe that in the next 24 hours the main section of the ice drift will move along the Olekminsky district, possibly two sections will merge, and the river will be opened near the city of Olekminsk. Specialists are monitoring the situation.

Earlier, on May 11, the authorities announced an urgent evacuation of two villages in Yakutia due to rising water in the Lena River. We are talking about the villages of Vitim and Peledui. The district administration reported that an ice jam broke through on the Lena River and the water level began to decrease, but the threat to the population still remains.
