In two regions of the Russian Federation, the average non-working pension exceeded 40 thousand rubles.

In April 2026, the average pension provision for unemployed residents of two Russian regions exceeded 40 thousand rubles for the first time. This was reported on May 13 by TASS based on the results of an analysis of data from the Social Fund of Russia.

We are talking about the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (AO). On average, 44.1 thousand rubles were credited to unemployed pensioners in Chukotka, and exactly 40 thousand rubles in Nenets Autonomous District.

The average pension among unemployed citizens across Russia in the same month was 25.8 thousand rubles. At the same time, the total average pension in the Russian Federation (including working recipients) reached almost 25.4 thousand rubles in April 2026.

Why is the average payout lower now and what could change the situation?

Professor of the Department of State and Municipal Finance of the Russian University of Economics. Plekhanova Yulia Finogenova announced on May 11 that in June, pensioners who turned 80 in May, as well as citizens with an established first disability group, who became dependents or completed their work, will be able to receive increased pensions.

According to the expert, the fixed payment as part of the insurance pension will increase to 19,169.38 rubles for citizens who turned 80 in May or who were assigned a group I disability. A nursing allowance of 1,413.86 rubles is also provided for the disabled of the first group.
