In Stavropol, a scooter driver who shot down a pensioner was sentenced to death
In Stavropol, a trial was held against a minor scooter driver who killed a pensioner. He was found guilty and his freedom was restricted for one year, the press service of the regional prosecutor's office reported on Tuesday, May 12.
The tragedy occurred on June 25, 2025 on Lenin Street. Moving at a speed of more than 20 km/h, a 17-year-old teenager was distracted from driving a scooter and ran over a 68-year-old pedestrian. The victim died in hospital from his injuries.
The court considered that the young man was inattentive to the traffic situation. According to the StavropolMedia news agency, the verdict has not yet entered into force.
Earlier it was reported that the bill on fines for speeding and other violations on electric scooters may be adopted as early as 2026. It was adopted in the first reading in 2024 and is currently being finalized for the second one.
