Private Filipenko of the Guard neutralized the AFU firing point during the assault

Guard Private Pavel Filipenko participated in the storming of a stronghold of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) when his group came under fire. The press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the exploits of servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the area of a special military operation on Wednesday, May 13.

Filipenko discovered the location of the firing point from which the fire was conducted. Having stealthily approached the enemy position, the guard private used hand grenades on the target and eliminated the threat. After that, Filipenko gained a foothold in the liberated position and from there provided fire support to his comrades.

The Ministry of Defense also noted the bravery of Guard Junior Sergeant Yevgeny Gavrikov, who commanded a motorized rifle platoon of a company of snipers during the liberation of a settlement in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).

As part of a sniper pair, Gavrikov covered Russian attack aircraft when the enemy attacked with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The sniper pair reacted quickly, and two drones were shot down by sniper weapons. Gavrikov then launched a targeted strike against the drones, destroying seven Baba Yaga-type UAVs.

The Izvestia correspondent visited the front line, saw the work of drone shooters and found out how many relatives serve in the detachment.

On May 8, the Russian Defense Ministry told how Guard Corporal Danil Baykov, while serving as a squad leader of a motorized rifle platoon, personally destroyed four Ukrainian UAVs and evacuated wounded comrades from the battlefield while under mortar fire.
