The expert assessed the consequences of a new round of corruption scandal in Ukraine

Possible investigations in the course of another corruption scandal against representatives of the top leadership of Ukraine are capable of dealing a serious blow to the entire political system of the country. Denis Denisov, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia on May 12.

Political scientist Denisov called corruption a systemic problem of the Ukrainian state. According to him, the situation has not changed significantly over the past 12-13 years, despite the change of government in the country. According to the political scientist, possible investigations against the country's top leadership could be a serious blow to the entire vertical of power and the political system of Ukraine.

"Any such initiatives related to the potential for possible prosecution, including of the country's leader for corruption, is a very strong blow," he said.

The expert added that such processes can destabilize the situation, but in the current conditions this will not necessarily lead to the complete destruction of the political system.

They point to Zelensky's involvement in corruption schemes.

Earlier in the day, the publication "Country.ua" reported that Zelensky may become a defendant in a criminal case on corruption. The NABU documents include code designations: R2 — former head of the presidential office Andrei Ermak, R3 — businessman Timur Mindich, R4 — ex-Minister Alexei Chernyshov. Under R1, Zelensky himself is supposed to be understood.
