Corruption schemes in Ukraine are systemic in nature, affect key areas of wartime and continue to exist at the expense of Western financial assistance. Ruslan Andreev, a political consultant and project manager at the Polylogue Group, told Izvestia about this on May 12.

"Corruption schemes permeate all levels of government, including areas that are particularly sensitive during hostilities: soldiers' uniforms, energy, humanitarian aid, and the banal theft of funds previously allocated by the United States, as well as EU funds that are still coming in," Andreev said.

Andreyev also pointed out that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine (SAP), in his opinion, are directly linked to the United States and are relatively independent of Kiev's policies. That is why, as the expert noted, the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, has already tried to completely subjugate these structures, which caused protests inside the country.

In addition, the political consultant allowed peaceful protests, but without pogroms. He does not expect a significant change in the situation in the country. In his opinion, key changes may occur after the ceasefire and elections, since Zelensky's regime, according to the expert, relies on conflict, Western financial assistance and corrupt earnings from it.

Earlier in the day, the publication "Country.ua" reported that Zelensky may become a defendant in a criminal case on corruption. The NABU documents include code designations: R2 — former head of the presidential office Andrei Ermak, R3 — businessman Timur Mindich, R4 — ex-Minister Alexei Chernyshov. Under R1, Zelensky himself is supposed to be understood.
