Avalanche danger extended in mountainous regions of Buryatia

Avalanche danger in mountainous regions of Buryatia will remain until May 14. Due to the weather conditions, it is recommended to refrain from going into the mountains and be careful on the highways in the Severobaikalsky and Muisky districts.

According to the republican hydrometeorological center, single avalanches are possible in the coming days due to the large amount of snow, its intense melting and rains amid rising temperatures.

The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations clarified that there is a restriction on citizens' access to the area of Mount Munku-Sardyk and the Mamai Nature Park.

Locals and tourists were urged to avoid avalanche-prone areas. As UlanMedia news agency reminds, at the end of April, six climbers died on Mount Munku-Sardyk. After the tragedies, criminal cases were opened.
