The expert named the main rules of safe rest
With the onset of the warm season, Russians are more likely to travel around the country and abroad, but even a carefully planned vacation can be complicated by flight delays, baggage losses, or health problems. Elena Kosheleva, Director of Sberbank Insurance projects, told Izvestia on May 13 how to prepare for the trip and avoid unnecessary risks.
According to the expert, the first step should be a well-thought-out program. During high season, tickets to museums, excursions, and viewing platforms quickly run out, and popular locations may operate on a special schedule. Therefore, tourists should specify the opening hours in advance, buy entrance tickets and plan a route.
"This will help to avoid situations when some plans have to be canceled not because of force majeure, but because of the high load of tourist places," she said.
Kosheleva advises paying special attention to the first-aid kit. It is worth taking antipyretics, antihistamines, patches, painkillers and remedies for indigestion. This is especially important abroad, where some of the usual medicines can only be sold by prescription.
The expert also recommends checking the terms of the insurance policy in advance. If an active vacation is planned during the trip — trekking, diving or extreme sports — you need to choose the appropriate cover.
"It is a common mistake to apply for a basic insurance policy without taking into account the holiday format," Kosheleva said.
In case of illness or other force majeure during the trip, the expert advises contacting the insurance company first, rather than looking for a clinic yourself. Kosheleva stressed that self-treatment at a medical institution abroad can lead to high costs if the insurance company does not have an agreement with him.
ATOR noted on May 7 that Maldivian hotels offered significant discounts to Russian tourists for the summer season amid a decrease in tourist traffic from European countries. The PAC Group tour operator explained that seasonal cost drops are a common practice for the resort, but in 2026, pricing was additionally influenced by a geopolitical factor.
