The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned about the use of fraudsters in the schemes of the courier service

Fraudsters are increasingly using the Russian State Courier Service in their legends. This was announced on May 12 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"Scammers are increasingly using the Russian State Courier Service in their legends. In many ways, because most citizens have never encountered it," the department's Telegram channel says.

It clarifies that the SFS of Russia is engaged in special government communications and the delivery of official correspondence between authorities, and not working with individuals. The Interior Ministry noted that scammers tell victims about "special couriers," "cash declarations," "checking funds," and other fictitious procedures. Sometimes victims are tried to engage in illegal activities under the guise of "internships" or "freelance work" in non-existent units.

The Interior Ministry clarified that such stories often feature people in civilian clothes — hoodies and jeans, who allegedly come on behalf of government agencies for money or documents. The Interior Ministry stressed that this should raise questions, since the SFS of Russia is a paramilitary service with strict regulations and uniforms.

Employees of the SFS of Russia do not come to citizens for money, bank cards, valuables or documents for verification. Any such stories are a sign of a fraudulent scheme, the agency added.

Earlier, on May 11, it became known that remote fraudsters began to introduce a new scheme for stealing Russians' money from bank cards, during which they send fake purchase receipts by e-mail, and then offer to cancel the transaction. The potential victim receives an e-mail receipt for a purchase that was not actually made, and a link to cancel it.
