A retro run was held in Moscow in honor of the 81st anniversary of the victory in the Second World War

On May 11, a retro race was held in Moscow in honor of the 81st anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII). Hundreds of rare "Seagulls", "Kopecks" and other Soviet, European and American car symbols of the post—war era lined up in a multi-kilometer column.

Some of them drove the top officials of the USSR and starred in films. One of the rarest examples is the dream of a Soviet man from the Khrushchev era: the Zaporozhets, which is more than 60 years old.

"He was born in 1965. I got it in 2018, and I bought it. Everything was sorted out, cleaned, painted, bodywork, brakes, the interior was stretched," said Fail Sinakaev, a participant in the race.

Another rarity also attracted the special attention of the young spectators of the race. This is an exact replica of the car that took part in the filming of Harry Potter. Its technical characteristics were evaluated by correspondent Linar Ginatullin.

"There are a lot of restored cars here, but this one is special, the Ford Anglia from the Harry Potter movie. There's an owl, a Quidditch broom, and even a sorting hat. It's just a pity that he's driving and not flying, like in the movie," the journalist showed.

Of course, this is just an entourage. The main mission of the participants of the retro rally was to show how vivid the memory that connects generations is. The column finished on Poklonnaya Gora near the Victory Museum, where the participants laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and went to inspect the exposition. This retro rally brought together representatives of not only Russia, but also Belarus, Serbia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and even the Baltic states and other countries.

On the same day, the tenth anniversary motor rally "Officers of Russia — Roads of Memory" was held in the capital, dedicated to the 81st anniversary of the Victory of the USSR over Nazi Germany. More than 500 people took part in the action in 150 cars with flags. The column proceeded from Poklonnaya Gora to Peremilovskaya Height in the Moscow region, where important battles took place in the defense of Moscow in 1941.
