"Locomotive" won the first match of the Gagarin Cup final series against Ak Bars
Yaroslavl Hockey Club (HC) Lokomotiv won the first match of the Gagarin Cup final series against Ak Bars Kazan with a score of 3:1. The meeting was held on May 11 in Yaroslavl.
Alexander Radulov (22nd minute), Maxim Berezkin (22nd minute) and Byron Fraz (36th minute) scored for the hosts. Mitchell Miller scored the only goal for the visitors (48th minute).
For Lokomotiv head coach Bob Hartley, this victory was the 50th in KHL cup matches. In 2021, a Canadian specialist led Omsk Avangard to win the Gagarin Cup.
Lokomotiv took the series lead 1-0. The second game will be held in Yaroslavl on May 13, adds Sport-Express.
In the seventh match of the semi-final series of the Gagarin Cup, Lokomotiv beat Omsk Avangard 4-3 and reached the final of the tournament. Maxim Berezkin scored the winning goal in the ninth minute of the second overtime, scoring a double in this match.
