In 2026, the Kazakh authorities sold several professional football clubs through online auctions. The most budget-friendly acquisition was the Turan club, which left the Premier League last season. It was sold on the second attempt for 1.1 million tenge or $2.3 thousand. This was reported on May 11 by TASS with reference to the auction data.

It is noted that the initial price had to be reduced by 30%. In February, it was reported that Turan was put up for auction by the owner, the Department of Sports and Physical Education of the Turkestan region, with an initial value of 1.05 million tenge ($2.1 thousand at the then exchange rate). According to the rules of the E-Qazyna site, the auction could take place even with one participant, but in the end it was declared invalid due to the lack of bids.

At the repeated auction, the starting price fell to 737.8 thousand tenge ($1.6 thousand). This time, there were two bidders, the auction took place, and the final price reached 1.1 million tenge. The identity of the buyers in the lot card is not disclosed, but the Kazakh investment group Ordabasy Group has already declared its victory, calling the deal a strategic social initiative for the development of sports infrastructure in the south of the country.

The highest price was paid for Aktobe, which finished fifth in the championship in 2025 — 364 million tenge ($790 thousand).

Spanish journalist Francois Gallardo reported last December that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman may make an offer to buy Barcelona for €10 billion. He also noted that Barcelona is currently burdened with a debt of €2.5 billion, which may contribute to negotiations between the Spanish club and the Prince of Saudi Arabia.
