The new Hungarian government plans to review the terms of the agreement on the construction of the Paks-2 NPP under the Rosatom project as one of the first steps. This was announced on May 11 by the candidate for the post of Minister of Economy and Energy Istvan Kapitan.

"One of the first measures for this purpose will be the revision of the Paks-2 NPP construction project," he said at a hearing in the parliament's economic committee.

Kapitan noted that economic indicators are directly related to the cost of energy resources. According to him, the authorities intend to achieve lower costs for the purchase of oil and gas, as well as for the production of electricity.

He added that the contracts with Rosatom are of a closed nature, so the new leadership of the country has not yet reviewed their contents. It is planned to study the documents in the near future.
