In Moscow, the oldest groom has turned 93 since the beginning of 2026.

Since the beginning of 2026, more than 1.3 thousand brides and grooms over the age of 60 have married in Moscow, currently the oldest groom turned 93 at the time of the family creation. This was announced on May 11 by Svetlana Ukhaneva, head of the Moscow Registry Office.

"The number of couples where both the bride and groom are over 60 years old is currently about 3% of the total. The oldest groom was 93 years old at the time of marriage, and the oldest bride was 84 years old," she told TASS.

According to Ukhaneva, in the oldest couple since the beginning of 2026, the groom turned 88 years old, and the bride turned 84 years old. In addition, both men and women have the most popular age for marriage after 60 years — 63 years.

In 2025, the oldest groom got married in Moscow at 96, and the oldest bride at 91. According to Ukhaneva, last year about 1.2 thousand unions were registered in the capital, where the age of one of the partners exceeded 60 years.
