Living on a percentage of the deposit without work in the long run is associated with a high level of risk. To receive revenue from investments in the amount of the average salary in Russia, you need about 12.1 million rubles. This was announced on May 11 by Fyodor Sidorov, a private investor and founder of the School of Practical Investment.

"The average salary in Russia <...> for February 2026 is about 104 thousand rubles per month. To receive such income only from interest, at a maximum rate of 15.5%, capital of about 8.1 million rubles will be required, and at a more realistic rate of 10.3%, it will be 12.1 million rubles," he said in an interview with Prime.

In addition, the investor recalled the tax on deposits, which varies from 13% to 15%, depending on the total amount of annual income. Only the amount of interest that has a limit is taxed. In addition, he recalled that at the moment deposits from two to six months offer rates higher than long-term ones.

Sidorov concluded that it would be safer to combine income with active activity.
