On May 10, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov criticized the decision of the Armenian authorities to provide platforms for anti-Russian sanctions.

"The only abnormal thing is that Yerevan has been given a platform for absolutely anti—Russian statements," he told Vesti news agency journalist Pavel Zarubin, the video was posted on the Maks messenger.

Peskov stressed that such actions do not fit in with the spirit of relations between Moscow and Yerevan and added that the Russian Federation expects explanations from Armenia. According to him, the Kremlin cannot explain why Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is not trying to balance these statements with his speeches.

On May 4, Pashinyan held talks with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at the European Political Community (ENP) summit in Yerevan. The parties discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations. Gunnar Lindemann, a member of the Berlin House of Representatives, said in an interview with Izvestia on May 6 that the summit was staged as a "pure show-off" aimed at provoking Russia.

On May 7, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed that Yerevan had violated its promises not to take steps against Moscow. Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov added that Armenia is pursuing a contradictory policy towards Russia, trying to "sit on two chairs."
