- The Irish authorities have begun to develop a scheme for the return of refugees from Ukraine
The Irish authorities have begun working on a scheme to return Ukrainian refugees home, the country's Minister of Justice, Jim O'Callaghan, said on May 9.
"Various mechanisms are needed to help people return home to Ukraine," he told the RTE broadcasting Corporation.
The head of the department stressed that the Ukrainian government itself would "very much like" to return its own citizens home.
On May 3, new rules for the placement of Ukrainian refugees come into force in Ireland, which may lead to some of them being left without provided housing. The media added that in some cases, difficulties with resettlement are possible, but massive problems, according to the authorities, are not expected.
