The attackers operating remotely, posing as law enforcement officers, convince Russian citizens to apply for loans and transfer money to "trusted persons" for removing criminal responsibility from them for allegedly helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This is evidenced by the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The scammers, as TASS clarified, contact the victims on behalf of representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Prosecutor General's Office (GP), the Treasury and other government departments. They tell the interlocutor that they have documented the fact of providing material assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for which criminal prosecution is envisaged.

After that, the attackers claim that you can avoid responsibility if you take out loans and send the money received through ATMs to special "trusted persons." Criminals claim that such actions will help to cancel previous transactions. As a result, following the instructions, people voluntarily lose their funds.

On May 6, representatives of the Department for Combating the Illegal use of information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation spoke about the use of a special military operation (SVO) by fraudsters in their schemes. For example, criminals operate in groups where Russians are trying to find their missing or unaccounted-for relatives.

There, users are offered to click on a link that leads not to a new chat, but to a special bot. Interaction with the resource subsequently deprives the trusted person of access to their personal accounts, data, and photos.
