The MV Hondius liner with people infected with Hantavirus will arrive in the Canary Islands on Sunday morning. This was announced on May 9 by Spanish Minister of Health Monica Garcia.

"It is currently expected that it (the liner. — Ed.) will arrive at the port of Granadilla early tomorrow morning, approximately between 04:00 and 06:00 a.m. Canary time (06:00 and 08:00 GMT)," she said at a press conference.

Gracia clarified that before disembarking, it is planned to conduct an epidemiological examination and check the health status of passengers and crew.

On the same day, the head of the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlasca, said that the country's authorities would ban navigation near the liner with passengers infected with hantavirus. According to Grande-Marlasca, upon arrival, all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the prompt and safe disembarkation of passengers and crew, as well as their subsequent departure to their countries of origin.
