The State Duma told about the new rules for receiving benefits for large families
Starting from May 22, large families with an average per capita income exceeding the regional subsistence level by no more than 10% will be able to receive a single allowance for each child. This was announced on May 10 by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood, Tatyana Butskaya.
The amount of the payment will be 50% of the minimum subsistence level set in a particular region. According to the parliamentarian, the changes will also affect those citizens who were denied support at the beginning of the year.
"For children from large families, provided that the family income is equal to the subsistence minimum plus 10%, starting this year it will be possible to receive a single allowance for each child in the amount of 50% of the subsistence minimum. Why do I say "starting this year" when it's already May? Because this law also helps those who applied for a single benefit this year, starting on January 1, 2026, but were refused," Butskaya explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The deputy clarified that after May 22, the incomes of such families will be recalculated taking into account the new threshold. If, according to the specified conditions, the family meets the criteria, the payment will be assigned proactively. As Butskaya noted, as a result, 231,000 Russian families will receive this state support.
Vladislav Grib, Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, announced on May 8 that families with children should receive lump-sum payments by June 1, International Children's Day. He noted that having many children should become part of Russia's culture and receive comprehensive support. According to him, special attention should be paid to large families.
