Likhachev expressed hope for accelerating the implementation of the Paks-2 project
Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev announced on May 9 that Rosatom expects to accelerate the implementation of the Paks-2 nuclear power plant project after the formation of a new Hungarian government.
"There are only a few days left before the appointment of a new Hungarian government. Work on the Paks-2 site is in full swing. In February, we carried out the first concrete, and this year we are finishing the concrete foundation slab of the first new nuclear power plant, which is also the fifth unit. Work is also actively underway on the second block. And we really hope that together with the government we will restart the project in terms of acceleration," he said in an interview with reporters.
In addition, Likhachev expressed the hope that the active development of the Hungarian project will continue regardless of the political choice that the citizens of Hungary made in the elections.
On the same day, Likhachev announced that the state corporation Rosatom no longer intends to work with the German company Siemens. The head of the corporation added that in its projects in Russia and abroad, the state corporation now focuses exclusively on solutions not related to Siemens.
