More than 100 people were infected with norovirus on a liner in the Atlantic

More than 100 passengers of the cruise ship Carribean Princess ("Caribbean Princess") have become infected with norovirus, which affects the intestines. This was announced by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on its website.

It is noted that the outbreak of the disease occurred on May 7 during a cruise. It started at the end of April and was supposed to end on Monday, May 11. ABC News TV channel clarifies that at the moment the ship is in the northwest Atlantic Ocean and is heading towards Puerto Rico.

According to the CDC report, 102 people out of 3.1 thousand passengers of the ship fell ill. In addition, 13 crew members complained about the virus. The doctors found vomiting and diarrhea in all the patients.

According to the American center, the company Princess Cruises, which organized the tour, strengthened the procedures for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces on the ship, isolated the sick and collected samples from them. The agency is conducting an on-site inspection to assess the sanitary condition and investigate the causes of the outbreak in order to "help the ship bring it under control."
