Putin highly appreciated Minsk's contribution to the defense capability of the Union State

Russian President Vladimir Putin, congratulating Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko on Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (WWII), expressed appreciation for Minsk's contribution to ensuring the defense capability of the Union State. This was announced on May 9 by the press service of the President of Belarus.

"We highly appreciate the contribution of our Belarusian friends to ensuring the defense capability and security of the Union State. I am confident that, acting together, our peoples will be able to overcome any challenges with honor," the text of the letter is published on the website of the Belarusian leader.

It is noted that the President of Russia conveyed his warmest congratulations to all veterans of the Great Patriotic War living in Belarus, as well as words of deep appreciation, wishes for good health, mental vigor and longevity.

Lukashenko, who is on a visit to Moscow, watched the Victory Day parade on Red Square in the morning, which he attended with his son Nikolai. They sat on the central podium, from where they watched the passage of troops together with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In honor of the anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War, military personnel from military educational institutions of all types and branches of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation marched through Red Square.
