"We celebrate it with feelings of pride and love for our country, with an understanding of our common duty to protect the interests and future of the Motherland. We sacredly honor the precepts and legacy of the soldiers of Victory. Caring for the Motherland unites our entire country, the entire people of Russia, and preserving the memory of the events of the Great Patriotic War, its true history and true heroes is a matter of honor for us," Putin said during a speech at the Victory Day Parade.

The President stressed that it was the Soviet people who made a decisive contribution to the defeat of Nazism, saved their country and saved the world, put an end to merciless evil, and returned sovereignty to those states that had capitulated to Nazi Germany.

Before the speech of the head of state, the parade was hosted by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov. At the same time, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, Andrei Mordvichev, is in charge of the parade calculations.

During the solemn event, parade troops of military educational institutions of the Russian Armed Forces will walk along Red Square. In addition, aerobatic flight groups are expected to fly over Red Square.
