People's Artist of Russia, pop and opera singer Nikolai Baskov took part in a march organized in the Kyrgyz Karakol in memory of the participants of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) as part of the Immortal Regiment campaign. Izvestia publishes footage from the event on May 9.

The performer carries a portrait of his relative, a veteran. Baskov has a St. George ribbon on his chest. He is in the ranks of like-minded people who also carry banners with images of their family's heroes.

The weather in the city was sunny and warm at the time of the rally participants' passage. Many people were smiling. Jan Frenkel's composition based on the poem "Cranes" by the Soviet poet Rasul Gamzatov played against the background of the procession.

On the same day, the "Immortal Regiment" was held in the capital of the People's Republic of China (PRC), Beijing. The people gathered there said that this event plays an important role in preserving the historical truth about the events of 1941-1945. One of the Chinese participants stated that she has been studying Russian language and culture for 10 years and considers it the duty of her generation to continue to maintain friendship with Moscow.

Izvestia also published footage of the Immortal Regiment marches in Geneva, Washington, Amsterdam, Frankfurt am Main and Panama during the week. They are also expected to be held in Iceland and Britain on May 9. In Russia in 2026, this action, as Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported on May 7, will be held in electronic format.
