- Lukashenko: it's disgusting to see how some countries have thrown Victory under their feet
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin on May 9 that he was disgusted to see how some states had forgotten and "thrown under their feet" the victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
"It's just ugly and disgusting when you watch our "comrades" who decided to forget and throw this Victory under their feet," he said.
According to Lukashenko, the Soviet Union saved not only Europe, but the whole world from the Nazi occupation. In addition, the Belarusian leader said that famous figures, whose ancestors fought in the Second World War, behave "incomprehensibly."
Earlier in the day, the Belarusian leader arrived in Moscow to participate in the Victory Day celebrations. In addition to him, the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Laos, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Thonglong, Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also arrived.
