The Victory Day Parade and the Immortal Regiment campaign were held in Vladivostok. On May 9, Izvestia correspondent Yevgeny Podtergera showed footage from the event and spoke with veterans and participants of the event.
"Calculations are going briskly: here are Pacific warriors in full-dress winter uniforms in the color of the depths of the sea and white foam. The alignment is strictly to the central podium, where the best seats in the front row, of course, belong to veterans," he said.
Svetlana Kashmirova, a participant in the Immortal Regiment march, came to honor the memory of her father, who fought on the Kursk Bulge during the Great Patriotic War.
According to Kashmirova, her father was a native Siberian born in 1915. When the Great Patriotic War began, he was sent along with other military personnel to the Western Front. She noted that the participants of the action came to preserve the memory of the victims. Together with her, hundreds of Vladivostok residents marched through the main streets of the city with portraits of their relatives.
The press service of the Eastern Military District (WWII) reported on the same day that more than 2.6 thousand people, including 1.6 thousand servicemen of the Russian Ministry of Defense, took part in the parade on foot in Khabarovsk. The course was completed by cadets and officers of the FSB border service. After that, the honor guard company of the Air Force headquarters performed military exercises with military weapons.
Izvestia published footage of the rally in Geneva, Switzerland. The participants gathered in front of the United Nations (UN) headquarters. They came with photos of their ancestors who participated in the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
The Immortal Regiment was also held in Washington, Amsterdam, Frankfurt am Main and Panama. In addition, on May 9, the event will be held in Iceland and Britain. In Russia in 2026, this action, as Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported on May 7, will be held in electronic format.
