The Italian State Service for Assistance to Persons with Addictions (SERD) recorded the country's first case of dependence on artificial intelligence (AI), the patient turned out to be a 20-year-old girl. This was reported on May 9 by the Italian newspaper Gazzettino.

"Toxic friendships have turned into addiction over time.: This is the first case of "AI addiction" to be monitored by the Addiction treatment service of the [local department of Social Services and Health] Ulss 3 of Venice," the message says.

It is noted that the girl constantly communicated with the AI, which learned to understand her and generate suitable answers for her, which is why the girl began to gradually limit her social circle. The publication clarifies that the case is unique because it is not related to substance use, but to a specific activity.
