Peskov commented on Zelensky's "permission" to hold a parade in Moscow
Russia does not need anyone's permission to hold a Victory Day Parade on Red Square. This was announced on May 8 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"We don't need anyone's permission. Probably, woe betide anyone who tries to make fun of Victory Day and make such stupid jokes. It's probably more his big problem," RIA Novosti quoted Peskov as saying.
In addition, the press secretary of the Russian president stressed that the residents of the country do not need anyone's permission to be proud on May 9.
Earlier in the day, as noted by "Gazeta.The head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, signed a decree "On holding a parade in the city of Moscow," which states that his state "allows the parade to be held," and Red Square is excluded from the plan for the use of weapons by the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the duration of the event.
Peskov also said on May 8 that ensuring security on May 9 was an absolute priority.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump expressed hope that a truce between Russia and Ukraine could begin to end the conflict. The head of the White House added that at the designated time, on his initiative, the parties will also make an exchange of prisoners.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov later said that Russia had agreed to support the American leader's initiative to extend the truce with Ukraine until May 11. He clarified that Moscow had also agreed to conduct a prisoner exchange with Kiev in the "thousand for a thousand" format during this period. The next day, Ushakov added that the extension of the truce was achieved through contacts between the Russian and American sides, as well as Washington's interaction with Kiev.
