The lawyer recalled the new procedure for income tax on deposits for 2025
Russian depositors will need to pay interest income tax on bank deposits received in 2025 no later than December 1, 2026. Alexander Khaminsky, a lawyer and head of the Law Enforcement Center in Moscow and the Moscow Region, told about this on May 9.
"The Federal Tax Service will independently calculate the amount of tax based on data from banks, deduct non-taxable income and send a notification. It should be borne in mind that starting in 2025, tax deductions will no longer apply to income on deposits," Khaminsky explained in an interview with the Prime agency.
According to the expert, from 2025, the interest income on deposits in Russian banks refers to investment income. The tax rate will be 13% if the total investment income, including interest, does not exceed 2.4 million rubles per year. If the amount is above this threshold, the 15% rate is applied.
