The Moscow Rodina was released in the RPL for the first time in its history
Rodina Moscow football Club beat Chelyabinsk in the 33rd round of the First League and secured early participation in the Russian Premier League (RPL) in the 2026/27 season. The meeting in Khimki took place on May 8 and ended with a 2-0 victory for the hosts.
The goals were scored by Ivan Timoshenko in the 25th minute and Artur Gharibyan in the 88th minute. Gharibyan received a red card in stoppage time. Chelyabinsk football player Khetag Kochiev was also removed from the field.
Rodina leads the First League table with 65 points, seven points ahead of Ural Yekaterinburg, which is third, with two matches remaining. Chelyabinsk is in ninth place with 43 points. Earlier on Friday, Fakel Voronezh also secured its participation in the RPL, the team with 65 points is second in the standings.
The Rodina Club was founded in 2015 by Russian entrepreneur Sergey Lomakin and reached the top division of the Russian championship for the first time in its history. The band has been performing professionally since 2019. In the 2022/23 season, which became the club's debut in the First League, the team won the right to participate in the play-off matches for entry into the RPL, where they lost to Nizhny Novgorod by the sum of two meetings.
The final, 34th round of the First League will be held on May 16. Rodina will play away with Arsenal Tula, and Chelyabinsk will host Shinnik Yaroslavl.
On May 7, Krasnodar football Club defeated Dynamo Moscow in the second leg of the final of the Russian Premier League (RPL) Cup of Russia. The match ended with a score of 6:5 in a penalty shootout.
