"The discussion focused on the situation in and around the Strait of Hormuz. Both sides expressed their position in favor of the inadmissibility of a return to escalation and the need to continue ongoing diplomatic contacts in order to reach a sustainable long—term agreement on all aspects of resolving the crisis as soon as possible," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The task of restoring the freedom of navigation regime in the form it existed until the end of February was particularly emphasized. It was also noted that it would be advisable to return to efforts to comprehensively normalize relations between Iran and the Arab monarchies in the long term. The Russian side confirmed its readiness to promote progress in these areas, taking into account the interests of all parties involved.
