The dog handler warned about the danger of lanterns for dogs during the rain
Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, warned about the danger of lanterns for dogs during the rain.
In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, May 8, the specialist noted that it is important for dogs to explore the world around them through smells, however, caution should be exercised during walks, especially in rainy weather. According to him, pets can sniff rocks and curbs, but not trash cans and lampposts.
The specialist warned that during the rain, the lanterns can become deadly due to damaged cable insulation. Moisture conducts electricity, so the danger is not only the pillars themselves, but also puddles next to them. Dogs with wet hair are especially at risk, as well as males who can urinate on a lantern.
The expert noted that the signs of a dangerous pillar may be a hum, vibration, open wiring and accumulation of water nearby. In such cases, it is recommended to report the problem to the utilities.
If an animal is electrocuted, you can not grab it with your hands. The specialist advised first to pull the pet away from the current source with a wooden stick or branch, and then check its breathing and pulse. If necessary, you should perform an indirect heart massage and urgently contact a veterinary clinic, writes Moscow 24.
The expert also recommended that dogs should not be allowed near lanterns and puddles during the rain and choose safe routes for walking.
Cynologist Yulia Soltan warned on May 4 about the danger of puddle water for dogs. Puddles, ponds, and fountains often become a source of infections. The expert explained that standing water may contain leptospira, the causative agents of a dangerous disease affecting the liver and kidneys.
On May 3, Golubev told the Moscow City News agency how to provide first aid to a dog with a bee sting. According to him, the stings of bees, wasps and hornets can cause a pet to have a severe allergic reaction. First of all, it is important to remove the bee sting: it is better not to pull it out, but to scrape it off to reduce the risk of spreading the poison. You also need to apply something cold and give an antihistamine.
In April, Golubev noted that uncontrollable behavior in dogs in the spring is associated with a change in the hormonal background, the website reports. kp.ru . According to him, during this period it is important to provide the dog with sufficient physical and mental activity. 360.ru .
In March, Vladimir Urazhevsky, a dog handler and veterinarian, reminded how to protect a pet from ticks. According to him, it is possible to treat a pet from ticks with spray, drops or a long-acting tablet, and it is necessary to do this, NSN reports.
