- Iran announced a missed opportunity for the United States to launch a ground operation
US President Donald Trump planned to conduct a ground operation in Iran, but he was too late to launch it. This was stated on May 8 by Mohammad Marandi, a professor at Tehran University, in an interview with retired Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis on his YouTube channel.
"There is a high probability that Trump will take a risk. <...> Most of the new equipment he brought is designed for ground operations. That's why he spent a lot of money, and I'm sure it's not just a bluff. Therefore, there is a high probability of an attack. But I think it's too late for an attack," he said.
According to Marandi, the abnormal temperatures that will cover the Middle East this month will interfere with the strategic plans of the US Army. He noted that it will become abnormally hot in the Arabian Peninsula at the end of May. In such conditions, it is difficult to conduct ground combat operations, the professor concluded.
Military expert Yuri Knutov reported on May 1 that the United States, as a last resort, may consider conducting a ground operation in Iran to establish control over its enriched uranium reserves. He believes that Washington faces a choice between destroying uranium storage facilities or a risky operation to seize them.
On April 30, US President Donald Trump instructed his aides to prepare for a prolonged blockade of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz in order to financially exhaust Tehran, as the head of the White House considers the resumption of bombing a risky option.
