The Eternal Flame was lit in Dedovsk with the support of United Russia

An Eternal Flame was lit in Dedovsk, Istra city district, with the support of the United Russia Party. The footage is published by Izvestia on May 8.

"114 obelisks in our district, mass graves and burials remind us every day of those terrible times, those terrible years. And today we are in Dedovsk at one of those sites where 45 of our soldiers are buried, who died in open battle, who died of severe wounds in hospitals in Dedovsk, and who are buried here," said Tatiana Vitusheva, head of the Istra municipal district.

She noted that the victims were 18, 19 and 20 years old, and although they did not have time to live their lives, they managed the main thing — to protect their country from the enemy and to give the future of Russia and give life to a new generation.

Vitaly Akulichev, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Moscow Region, in turn, noted that Dedovsk is not just opening a new element of the memorial complex, but emphasizing the connection with the past associated with the Great Patriotic War (WWII), because the Eternal Flame is the memory of those millions of people who forged Victory.

"Tomorrow will be, perhaps, the most important holiday of our country, a holiday with tears in our eyes. I feel a sense of awe. Probably every family has been touched by grief. My grandfather died in Bobruisk, defending [the country] in the early days of the Great Patriotic War," said Igor Baranov, General Director of Mosoblgaz.

He added that when visiting memorials with children, he constantly reminds them of how great a feat their grandfathers accomplished and how important it is for every family, for every country, and for a great nation not to forget and remember these events.

Moscow City Duma deputy Igor Vlasov called the opening ceremony of the Eternal Flame a very important, significant and historical event and added that the Fatherland remembers the feat of heroes.

"We remember the history. We don't just remember, we pass on to the younger generation the history of the heroic Soviet, Russian people, because without history, the future is impossible," the deputy concluded.

On May 6, Izvestia published footage of the ceremony of the first lighting of the Eternal Flame in the village of Shaturtorf in the Moscow region with the support of the United Russia Party. The flame caught fire in the park near the memorial complex dedicated to those who died during the Second World War. For the holiday, a complete reconstruction was carried out at the monument to the Unknown Soldier according to the popular program of the party.
