Recycling for cars from Russia has grown tenfold in Kazakhstan

The recycling fee for cars and agricultural machinery imported from Russia and Belarus to Kazakhstan has increased tenfold. This was reported on May 8 by TASS with reference to the effective order of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the republic.

The amount of scrap collection for cars imported to Kazakhstan from Russia and Belarus with the most common engine capacity (from 1 to 2 liters) now amounts to about 29.4 million tenge (more than $63.3 thousand). It is noted that this amount exceeds the cost of any passenger car produced in the Russian Federation with such engines.

According to the order, for M1 category vehicles (passenger cars) produced in Kazakhstan with 1-2 liter engines, the base utilization rate is 50 monthly calculation indices (MCI), or about 216 thousand tenge ($465). The document introduces a coefficient of 3.5 for this rate for cars imported from any country, with the exception of the Russian Federation and Belarus, for which this indicator is set at 136.

Increasing coefficients of recycling payments are also set for cars imported from the Russian Federation and Belarus with engines of up to 1 liter (it will amount to 22 liters) and over 3 liters (increasing coefficient — 246 liters). For electric passenger cars imported from all countries, except the Russian Federation and Belarus, the increasing utilization payment coefficient is 0. For Russia and Belarus — 60.

As reported on March 10, the Minister of Industry and Construction of Kazakhstan, Yersayin Nagaspayev, said that the republic does not expect a sharp increase in car prices after an increase in scrap collection for imports from Russia. The changes should eliminate the imbalance in the level of recycling between the countries, he pointed out and noted that car imports from the Russian Federation to the republic are already at a low level.
