AvtoVAZ explained the appearance of a patent for a new crossover
The new crossover, the design of which was patented by AvtoVAZ, is one of the design concepts. Work on it has already been finalized, but it is too early to talk about the prospects of producing such a car. This was stated in the press service of the domestic automobile company, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported on May 8.
AvtoVAZ added that patenting such a development is a common global practice.
As it became known the day before, AvtoVAZ issued a patent for an industrial design of a crossover, which had not been publicly demonstrated before. The images of the model appeared in the open database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property.
The crossover shown in the images has a T-134 index. According to insiders, this is a failed "Niva" of a new generation, which was developed during the cooperation of AvtoVAZ with Renault. It is allegedly planned to transfer it to the Russian component base. In early 2025, the Lada T-134 prototype was shown to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his working trip to the Samara region.
AvtoVAZ employees went on a single corporate vacation on March 4, which will last until May 13 inclusive. During this period, the company will carry out a range of production modernization activities. In total, it is planned to carry out over 15 thousand works with a total capacity of 110 thousand man-days, the total budget for the May modernization will exceed 530 million rubles. The Lada Azimut crossover is expected to appear in the AvtoVAZ model range this year, with the launch of mass production scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
