Since the beginning of the special military operation, 30 children have been returned to Russia from Ukraine. This is stated in the bulletin on the activities of the Children's Ombudsman for the protection of children during the SVO Maria Lvova-Belova, published on May 7.

"In total, with our direct participation, we were able to reunite 30 children with 22 families in Russia and 141 children with 114 families in Ukraine and in third countries, not counting those children whose parents from Kherson, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv regions and other territories sent them to rest in health resorts in southern Russia in the fall of 2022 and could not pick it up on time," the text says.

It is reported that for these purposes, the office generates and maintains a database of wanted children, and a working channel of interaction with the Ukrainian side has been established, which is used to process each request individually.

It is noted that through this mechanism, documents and information are exchanged, as well as actions aimed at reuniting children with their families are coordinated.

The document says that the commissioner's office receives appeals from parents and close relatives living in Russia who seek to reconnect with children who find themselves on the territory of Ukraine. It is emphasized that prompt assistance is provided to all applicants. Such work has been carried out since the beginning of a special military operation and is carried out on an individual basis.

In addition, according to the Children's Ombudsman, the location of children may vary, they may be in Russia, Ukraine, and in some cases in third countries, including the states of the European Union (EU).

Lvova-Belova reported on May 7 that since the beginning of the special military operation, 85 Russian children have died and 503 more children have been injured as a result of the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The Ombudsman presented these data at a meeting with the UN Secretary General's Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Vanessa Frazier. Lvova-Belova noted that the meeting was held in a constructive manner.
