The change of the sherpa (proxy) of the Russian Federation in the G20 may be due to the fact that Svetlana Lukash, who currently holds this post, decided to end her work in this position and take up other areas of activity. This opinion was expressed on May 7 by Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

"I can assume that the person is tired, probably wants to do some other things," he said at a briefing.

According to Ushakov, Lukash represented Russia in the association for more than 10 years and during this time proved herself to be a highly professional specialist. The presidential aide noted that he did not know the future plans of the former Sherpa.

On May 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed Denis Agafonov, head of the Presidential Expert Department, as Russia's new G20 sherpa. Lukash has been Russia's G20 sherpa since November 2013. The current decree dismissed her.
