Lexus has unveiled the new TZ model, an all-electric three-row SUV over five meters long that can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The model will enter the North American market by the end of this year, and will debut in Europe, Japan, China and other countries early next year. The Japanese brand's press service shared details about the new product on May 7.

Lexus TZ is based on the Toyota Highlander electric charger and is essentially its more premium modification. The length of the crossover is 5100 mm (50 mm longer than that of the related Toyota), the wheelbase of the models is the same — 3050 mm. At the same time, both in terms of exterior design and interior design, the TZ is very different from the Highlander.

There are three rows of seats inside the Lexus TZ, with each passenger having their own seat. It is stated that due to the absence of an internal combustion engine and a number of steps to improve noise insulation, the TZ is the quietest among all parquet floors of the brand. A specially designed sound system reproduces synthesized sounds tied to the accelerator pedal position and is capable of simulating the sound of a Lexus LFA supercar with a V10 engine.

The cabin is designed with passenger comfort in mind. The second and third row seats are equipped with ventilation and electric footrests, and the rear seats fold down at the touch of a button. One of the exterior features is touch buttons with tactile feedback that blend in with the exterior trim if the backlight is off. The options include a panoramic roof, doors with door closers, and a Mark Levinson audio system with 21 speakers. Bamboo materials and biodegradable fabric upholstery are used in the decoration.

The Lexus TZ power plant consists of two electric motors with a total output of 408 hp (500 Nm), surpassing the related Highlander in this indicator. Traction is transmitted to all wheels via an all-wheel drive system. With a 95.82 kWh battery, the WLTP cycle power reserve is 530 km. When charging from a 150 kW station, you can replenish the battery's energy from 10% to 80% in 35 minutes.

Earlier that day, it was reported that GAC was preparing to launch a new large S9 crossover on the Russian market. A page dedicated to the model appeared on the brand's website, and the company's press service distributed official images of the SUV.
