AvtoVAZ has issued a patent for an industrial design of a crossover that has not been publicly demonstrated before. Images of the model appeared in the open database of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS; Rospatent website), an inspection of Izvestia showed.

The patent application was filed in December 2025, and it was registered in early May of this year. AvtoVAZ is indicated as the patent holder. The authors of the design are Stepan Suslaev, Yana Ilyina, Yaroslav Zhitlov, Olga Denisova and Jerzen Ackermann.

According to the Avtotok Telegram channel, the crossover shown in the images has the T-134 index - this is the failed Niva—3, which is planned to be transferred to the Russian component base.

In early 2025, the Lada T-134 prototype was shown to Russian President Vladimir Putin during his working trip to the Samara region. The new generation Lada Niva was developed in cooperation between AvtoVAZ and Renault based on the CMF-B-LS platform from Renault-Nissan. The designation T-134 should evoke associations with well-known Soviet products — the T-34 tank and the Tu-134 airliner.

AvtoVAZ employees went on a single corporate vacation on March 4, which will last until May 13 inclusive. During this period, the company will carry out a range of production modernization activities. In total, it is planned to carry out over 15 thousand works with a total capacity of 110 thousand man-days, the total budget for the May modernization will exceed 530 million rubles. The Lada Azimut crossover is expected to appear in the AvtoVAZ model range this year, with the launch of mass production scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
