Europe needs to understand Russia's interests in Ukraine, especially in Donbas and Odessa. This was announced on May 7 by Arnaud Klarsfeld, a member of the French Council of State.

Russian Russians, in any case, consider part of Ukraine to be Russian. Odessa is a city where people speak Russian. Donbass is a region that is Russian. People there feel like Russians and link their fate with Russia. The Europeans should understand this," he said on the CNews TV channel.

Klarsfeld added that the West should seek a compromise in resolving the issue, taking into account Moscow's interests. He noted that Ukraine is unable to win the conflict, and when NATO joins it, which Kiev is trying to achieve, World War III will begin. According to the politician, the European nations do not want to fight with Russia, so in such a situation it is better to find a compromise.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb said on May 5 that Ukraine was necessary for Europe to "contain" Russia. According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are now supposedly the "largest and most modern" army.

On the same day, the newspaper L'antidiplomatico wrote that the leaders of the European Union (EU) consider the continuation of the conflict in Ukraine as the only way to survive and enrich themselves. According to the newspaper, European leaders are purposefully inciting militaristic sentiments in society, while claiming that Russia is allegedly going to attack one of the states in the region in the near future.
