Former Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Timur Ivanov appealed the court's decision on a lawsuit against the military enlistment office due to the lack of a response to his request to be sent to the special military operation zone (SVO). This was announced on May 7 by his lawyer Denis Baluyev.

"Timur Vadimovich filed a complaint a long time ago, it has just been registered in court," Baluyev said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The lawyer added that his client may request to be sent to his home at any stage of the proceedings.

At the end of October 2025, Ivanov sent an appeal to the military commissariat with a request to send him to the front. After receiving no response, he filed a lawsuit, considering the military's inaction illegal. In March, the Moscow Meshchansky Court rejected his claims.

Ivanov was detained on April 23, 2024 in connection with charges of accepting a bribe. According to the investigation, he entered into a criminal conspiracy with the heads of contractors who worked at the facilities of the Ministry of Defense, and concluded contracts with them in exchange for personal rewards. In July, the former deputy minister was sentenced to 13 years in prison and fined 100 million rubles.

A participant in the trial informed Izvestia on April 24 that Ivanov had pleaded not guilty in the second criminal case. In addition to him, Alexander Fomin, the co-founder of the Olimpcitystroy company, is in the dock, accused of paying a particularly large bribe. The third person involved in the case, businessman Sergei Borodin, pleaded guilty and entered into a pre—trial agreement, his case was separated into a separate proceeding.
